Call of Duty 4Call of Duty 4 Review - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Play.com
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the 4th major instalment in the Call of Duty series, it is developed by Infinity Ward and Published by Activision. The game consists of Modern Warfare as the title suggests instead of the usual World War 2 theme of previous Call of Duty titles. The first thing you notice is that it looks brilliant, the graphics are just so amazing and photo-realistic, which helps the game be more immersible that other games, which means that it's another one of those games that you play for hours on end till you are very hungry. The weapon models are extremely good and look real. When you are looking down your sights, the area not around the iron-sight is blurred, which adds to the realism. The Voice Acting for the game is absolutely top notch, the Russians sound like Russians and not just drunken Americans trying to be funny. The Music is by Harry Gregson-William and is so fitting to the levels, it makes the game perfect. Story Wise, the game is about a civil war that takes place in Russia, Ultra-Nationalists on one side, and Government Royalists on the other and according to the Intro, 50,000 nukes at stake. However, at the same time, a Terrorist uprising in an unnamed Middle Eastern country (Saudi as the map shows) is happening, so the Terrorists join forces with the ultra-nationalists, and like events of today, the Americans and the British have to intervene. You play as 5 people in total, Sgt. “Soap” MacTavish (SAS), Sergeant Paul Jackson (USMC), lieutenant Price (Your Captain throughout the game as Soap, you play as him during a flashback.), The President of the unnamed Middle eastern Country who you are just in First Person mode with and you get shot by the leader of the Terrorists, and a Gunner on an AC130 Spectre Gunship. At the beginning, you skip between MacTavish, Jackson and the Gunner. While the Americans are fighting in the desert, the SAS are in Russia, being vicious. And after many gruelling missions, you end up having a shoot out on a bridge and you kill the bad guy and win. Multiplayer in the game consists of a levelling up XP (not the OS) system that has never before been in any Call of Duty game, the system works by you, the player, getting XP from Kills, Matches, Calling in special stuff like Air strikes or Helicopters and completing challenges. On the PC, there are 55 levels for you to complete, and even then you have other stuff to unlock. On the Consoles, the level cap is 65 and you have “Prestige” which means that once you get to level 65, you have the choice of starting again, letting you play for longer, and also gives you a special thing next to your name that is used for bragging rights to your friends (Also if you have no life, you can do this 10 times). The weapons that you can use on the Multiplayer are completely up to you, granted that you've unlocked them, you can also choose a Side Arm, special grenade, and 3 different perks from a selection of perks. It is fun. To summarise, the game is very good. It has a nice Campaign with an awesome story, and the multi player is absolutely epic and brilliant. BUY IT if you already haven't. 94/100 |
